More evidence for my contention that Billy Zoom is a replicant. Or maybe that’s my friend Matthew’s contention. It’s been 25 years, and I don’t remember.

   X rules.

   I read an old interview with Billy Zoom - he was one of these kids that could play several instruments in high school… eventually played guitar for an old rockabilly singer before forming X with John Doe.

   The story about his stage demeanor that I love goes like this: he saw some clip of, I think, the Doobie Bros., and the guitarist was all bent over and over-emoting everything.  Zoom’s view was, he’s playing easy stuff, I’m gonna play stuff much harder than that and just stand there and smile.

   He’s a bit of an odd bird, but I love to hear him play.
