It’s hard to believe it was a year ago today that Mr. Attitude here came to live with us.
His expression in this shot is the result of being chased around the yard a few times. The routine goes like this: I follow him around and around the yard until he remembers that when he goes inside, I stop chasing him. This is much easier than our protocol a year ago, which was actually trying to catch him. It also works better in the rabbit psychology world: the animals are much happier if they feel they make the decisions. He’s got a choice: go inside, or continue being chased. This is a much less degrading situation for a higher being than being ignominiously caught and carried inside. Which, as it happens, is what happened shortly after I took this photo: he cornered himself in the compost bin, and I took advantage of the situation.
Yes, that is the exterior house paint color I chose. Why do you ask?
Added later: I’d forgotten that we’d brought Thistle home on the vernal equinox. How pagan of us!

What color is that, anyway?
The house color is fine, it’s the rabbit’s coloration that looks tweaked. Except for the obvious life in his eye, he looks “plush”; must be very soft.
The house color was called “jalapeño” in the paint store, but they put a different base in (semi-gloss instead of matte) and so it came out looking more like persimmon.
I had that happen when I tried to paint a small bathroom a mute red shade. It turned out hot pink, simply due to the gloss. We repainted, but it never seemed right.

Pie? Or pi? I can do either, and no worries on tallow. I’ve a tallow-free household.
the only difference between british tallow and american tallow is that the british finally had to admit they had a problem and we haven’t had to.
Remember David Suzuki and “The Nature of Things?” They did a two part series on mad cow that I.. um… acquired… and it made it seem that the brits are now being far more careful than we are. And Japan even more so.

Yep, the American cattle industry until very recently was doing exactly what the Brits were doing. I have no idea why everyone assumed American beef was safe, except that virtually no cattle were ever tested.
