Here is Largo they ask people to volunteer to pick “air potatoes” to keep them from overtaking everything. Some say you can actually eat the things - an edible invasive.
In an odd sort of way, this reminds me of the recent release of an SoCal air quality study that found that some of the pollutants (aerosals and particulates) in the air between the coastline and the San Jacinto mountains contains materials consistent with those found in China (the Big Brown haze). The ongoing research is trying to determine if this matter is merely similar but locally generated or infact part of the original material that has globally dispersed. WE humans are doing a great job of ridding the earth of indigenous ecosystems; wouldn’t it be nice if those so concerned about people who speak Spanish realized they need to be worried more about the other species that migrate “illegally” between nations and continents.
