My stray cat came to me back when my teenage daughter ran away, and I am convinced it wasn’t -just- to eat (because he climbed right into my lap afterwards!) but because he “knew” I needed comfort. I will always believe animals know certain things about human moods that we aren’t aware we express; the way they can discern menace or fear, for instance, they can also *feel* when we need comfort and friendship.
PS: Suspiciously religious references to “life force” and “soul” in the article, though… don’t know if the Church of Atheism allows that, Chris. Better add: “Spiritually-based opinions expressed in this article do not necessarily reflect…” etc, or you could be facing excommunication! :P
Thanks for that wonderful link.
