Just saying (2)

The next feral kitten I find, I’m naming Michelle Malkin. And then I’m dropping it off at the pound.

Hey, don’t get me wrong. I’ll take the cat to a no-kill internment camp erm i mean animal shelter, and they’ll just give it a number or something.

I’m confused. Malkin didn’t do much except post two links, one of which goes to a piece that’s reasonably informative and well-written. This Trevino person is a nasty coat-trailing firestarter, but the Margaret Cho quote is breathtakingly stupid (art-terrorist?). What have I missed?

It’s another Chris rant with a vague target!

Context: Malkin, a pro-internment fascist, makes much of slights and (whatever the plural is of) faux pas by folks on the left and ignores — or encourages — the swelling wave of violence directed at leftists by the right.

So yeah, Cho’s comment about Gudrun the chihuahua is obtuse. As obtuse, in fact, as Joe Strummer’s donning of the “Italian pizza restaurant” T-shirt in Rude Boy. But reading nefarious intent into what leftists name their pets is, I think, an order of magnitude more stupid.

Or it would be, except that Malkin has a following of infatuated mouth-breathing freepers who can be counted on to use this as a reason to harass Cho, and I suspect that’s why Malkin posted what she did.

Poor feral cat.  How ‘bout a rat instead?  And something to make my computer forget I ever clicked on that hateful link.

I know Margaret Cho writes a lot of outrageous stuff to get a reaction, but the amount of hatred spewed at her in return is daunting.  I just can’t find it in my heart to resent someone who founds an organization called love is love is love.  (Typical Cho rant to be found there — not for the easily offended)

chris—i agree with your assessment of malkin. but what is obtuse about cho’s statement about terrorism chic? if she intended to be humorous it was certainly dark.

i know who joe strummer is but have never heard of “rude boy” so there is no hope of bringing me up to speed on “italian pizza resaurant” tho i like the generic quality of it.

“But reading nefarious intent into what leftists name their pets is, I think, an order of magnitude more stupid.” yes, and blaming all leftists for what one does is stupid too. i’d like to know more about the context in which cho made the remark, but it does sound, well, insensitive to reality at least.

i did have rather radical friends in the 70’s who named their dog sirhan sirhan. i thought that was a bit over the top.

I’ve seen Rude Boy and can almost recommend it — it fails wretchedly to be either of the films it’s trying to be, but it’s an interesting failure (and the music’s great). Don’t remember the ‘pizza restaurant’ line, though — ‘Brigate Rosse’?

And yes, terrorism was glamorous back then. There was just something a bit, well, stupid about Cho’s line about the RAF — ‘art-terrorist’ really grated on me. But I’m the kind of person who can’t watch the X Files without shouting at the TV…

    We have a winner!

(Of course, if anyone in the world would know that reference, it’d be Phil.)
