And so, I’m hoping this is inspiring you to some extent to stay on with them for a while… I seem to recall some rumblings of moving on from you earlier this year? I subscribed/became a member of Earth Island largely because of your editorship - and smally because of my undergraduate experience in Dave Brower’s course of the same name, which in some manner led to the founding of the Institute, as I vaguely recall the legend. Dave was a huge inspiration, and I think you carry on his spirit in the publication, with an appropriate occasional and sometimes misunderstood dash of wit (snark?), which is generally lacking from the mainstream environmental press. I love your feature articles, as sometimes previewed on CRN. And, when Forest Service colleagues bad-mouth Earth Island as obstructionists who don’t understand forest issues (they don’t appreciate Earth Island v. Ruthenbeck, for example), I like to point to your writing and general erudition as a counter-example. So, thanks and keep up the good work!
Congratulations? Am I, like, the only one in the blogosphere who didn’t know this was your job? :)
You guys have the best name, but I was surprised to see The Onion in the same category.
Congrats! And well, well deserved.
I didn’t know about the day job either. Congrats and thank you for the work you do—
And here I thought you were a barista in North Beach.
