Great Blue Heron?
(My favorite bird, or one of em. I saw one once in Afton Canyon, pretty far from the “river”...man, did it look out of place!)

Just saw one standing in the St. Lawrence river as we drove home on the interstate: ships on one side, speeding cars and trucks on the other; inscrutable heron in the reeds.
