It’s very strange to be reading the news in California and find, in a story on weather in New York State, this sentence:
In rural Gorham, 25 miles southeast of Rochester, a dozen youngsters narrowly escaped injury when a tree fell and heavily damaged their school bus.
Strange, that is, if one of your uncles drives a school bus in Gorham.

Can I assume it wasn’t his bus that was hit, then?
but then again, if you’re FROM gorham, it’s about a 50% chance that the bus driver is your uncle.
Thankfully, Charlie, it wasn’t my uncle, and even more ethically thankfully, his co-worker wasn’t at all hurt. Sounds like she did a yeoman job of getting the kids off the bus safely and delivered to school anyway.
The sad thing, to my mind, is that the bus had kids grades K-5 on it, and I can imagine them being pretty scared. High schoolers might have enjoyed it.
