A good site

Jarrett Walker, who I just encountered in comments below, has a website you should visit right now. He's one hell of a writer. His piece on California's Central Valley is especially worth noting, although it would benefit from mention of Gerry Haslam.

Thanks Chris -- I've just read that amazing piece and will be looking at the others later on.

We are in bliss with the rain, here -- the ditch is full and the walnuts that we didn't pick up yet are going to rot. So be it.
