Fun with contractors

This morning, 8:00 am:

Dave (the contractor): "... and that way there'll be room for Becky to start putting urethane on the windows this morning."

Me: "Actually, Becky's gotta be at a training today. I'm going to do the first coat of urethane."

Dave: "Hmmm. [Moment of silence.] Well, I guess we can sand any big mistakes off before Becky does the second coat."

I'm really into the home improvement thing these days. What are you doing/ building?

Chris, I have absolute "faith" in your ability to apply that first coat of urethane! With plants you got the green side up thing right away, this ethyl carbamate stuff is easy; easy I say. I've only made a total mess with it twice. (But then I've only used it twice.)

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Carl.

Roxanne, we're having the kitchen gutted and redone, which of course means the earth faces the tragedy that there are fifty fewer square feet of medium yellow formica countertop in it.

Sounds like Dave is pretty interested in Becky. Good think you're hanging out at home. ;)

Wanna come to Gaithersburg and remove my formica?

Ah, well, I'd prefer honesty to diplomacy in a contractor. But then, were he speaking of me, he'd be being too generous.

I maintain that it's because of my asthma that application of nasty chemicals is strictly done by my husband in our household. Husband nods his head agreeably, but we both know he won't let me near the stuff because I'm so incompetent with it.

Nah. Yin/Yang, man. I'll be putting in fifty feet next spring. The yellow really sets off all the copertone appliances.
