Creek Running North
September 23, 2005
According to the little visit counter at lower left, Creek Running North is going to have its 200,000th visitor sometime this weekend.
If that's you, let me know by commenting here, and I'll give you a copy of the Irascible Gardener e-book when it's ready.

I'm 199,000. So close!Posted by: Paul Tomblin at September 23, 2005 12:31 PM
967 bottles of beer on the wall, 967 bottles of beer, take one down, pass it around...Posted by: SneakySnu at September 23, 2005 01:22 PM
SneakySnu: In my family, we like to sing, "infinity bottles of beer on the wall, infinity bottles of beer. Take one down and pass it around, infinity bottles of beer on the wall..."
I think we stole it from the Tiny Toons or Animaniacs.Posted by: Stephanie at September 23, 2005 01:54 PM
Stephanie, somehow the scarcity model seems more intriguing to me. But, dang, you'd think 967--make that 925--bottles would have been enough!Posted by: SneakySnu at September 23, 2005 02:20 PM
I should think it would be plenty-unless it's some kind of nightmare scenario where you're trapped in a fallout shelter with my Uncle Dave.
No, the fun thing about infinity bottles of beer is the look of horror on your passengers' faces when you set out singing it at the beginning of a 13 hour car trip.Posted by: Stephanie at September 23, 2005 04:22 PM
Dang - I'm just 199,175. Maybe later ...Posted by: Pepper at September 23, 2005 04:36 PM
That would be entertaining. I've heard a variant that goes "pick one up, and put it back up" once you've reached zero -- you can count right back up to 99, then keep going.
btw, this song is _excellent_ practice for learning number patterns in foreign languages. *grin*Posted by: Rana at September 23, 2005 04:36 PM
Stephanie, I thought we agreed you'd never call me "Uncle Dave" in public.Posted by: Chris Clarke at September 23, 2005 05:09 PM
After that, I just had to pop over from reading the RSS feed and see if I could be the 200,000th! I'm 199,280. Rats.Posted by: Lei at September 23, 2005 08:24 PM
I just discovered, through empirical research, that if I refresh the page, the counter goes up one. If I do it 607 more times, the Irascible Gardener is MINE!
Hey, I don't see anything against it in the rules! It's Saturday morning, and I have coffee and nothing better to do.Posted by: Vicki at September 24, 2005 06:18 AM
Dang cookies! I hit refresh seven times, and it's still stuck at 199,560. Oh, well, maybe when I visit again tomorrow... :)
I like gardening. And I respect irascibility, now more than ever.Posted by: Sara at September 24, 2005 12:20 PM
can't even tell. how come everybody else is so smart? oh, right, cause they read your blog. gotcha.
oh well.Posted by: jean at September 25, 2005 07:10 AM
It took me a while too, Jean. It's the number at the bottom of the Blogs I Read list on the left side of the page.Posted by: Stephanie at September 25, 2005 08:42 AM
