This blog is pleased to announce that it is one of nearly 300 blogs nominated for The 2005 Koufax Awards: Most Deserving of Wider Recognition award.
Among the other nominees are some utterly deserving entries. In fact, reading the list was a little like reading the names on a comment thread here at Creek Running North.
Mary Beth isn't allowing votes yet, as she quite sensibly recognizes that unless people take the time to read a few of the nominees, they'll likely just vote for the ones they know well, which weights the results in favor of blogs with higher traffic. Go sift through the links and see what good stuff you can come up with.
And for those of you who're here for the first time following the link from the Koufax page, have a look around. I briefly thought of suggesting a few things to read, but I quailed at the prospect of sifting through a whole year of blog posts in order to do so. Maybe some of the commenters here will have suggestions.

Ha! I'm on there too. Ready to thumb-wrestle?
(More seriously -- there are a lot of really great blogs on that list, including a number of long-time blog buddies. How to choose?)Posted by: Rana at January 23, 2006 04:38 PM
I'm going to post this tomorrow:
If you believe that the bloggers posted as nominees for the Most Deserving of Wider Recognition
actually deserve wider recognition - then why not put them on your blogroll?
This is hard. I think I'm going to vote Battlepanda for Most Deserving and I Blame the Patriarchy for Best New. But it's sooooo hard.
Why can't real elections be this cool?Posted by: Amanda Marcotte at January 23, 2006 06:38 PM
Blame the party system.Posted by: PSoTD at January 23, 2006 06:45 PM
I knew I should have renamed my joint Happy Furry Panda Story Time. BTW, based on my calculations, the weblogs on that list are reproducing and therefore growing faster than it is possible to read them.
As for real elections, I'd settle for "4 or 5 actual choices."Posted by: norbizness at January 23, 2006 07:53 PM
Congrats, Chris! You deserve it. Somehow somebody rigged the show and snuck me on the list. I may very well vote for you. Go on with your bad self.Posted by: ae at January 25, 2006 11:01 PM
