Everybody's doing it.

This is an interesting thing making the rounds. I've seen it at Rana's and Bitchphd's. I twitted Dr. B last night for the narcissism involved, but I am nothing but narcissistic, so here goes.

This is my johari window. Go there and pick five or six of the positive qualities from the list that you think best describe me. The man behind the curtain will correlate your answers with my own, and rough out how I see myself as compared to how you see me. You need to enter a name to play, but you can make it up on the spot.

Does that seem to you too much like fishing for compliments? Then check out my Nohari window, which is the negative version of the Johari. It was much harder to pare my negative qualities down to six, I have to say. Have at it. No, narcissistic isn't on the list. Neither is "too eager to make fun of blog trolls."

Narcissism
Excerpt: I say if Chris Clarke and BitchPhD will do it, then fuck it, I'll do it too. Here's my Johari Window where you can say nice things about me and here's my Nohari Window where you can say what you...

We do need a whole lot more Billy Goat Gruffs in this world, turning some of their nasty, negative qualities into positives use in overwhelming the trolls: poking out trolls' eyes, knocking out trolls' sharp teeth, crushing trolls into tiny pieces, and then tossing them in the every flowing, churning cataracts to be lost forever.

And it's worth noting that "gruff" is on neither list.

I hope it is ok if people who know you from your writing, but don't know you personally, play. I really like to click buttons on web quizzes.

i did the johari one, but couldn't do the nohari thing. they wanted 5 negative traits, and i only have 2 -- and one of those is not so bad [cynical], and the other is, i hope, temporary [unhappy]. phooey on the nohari window.

Sarah: people I don't know are willing to use flattering words to describe me, and you ask if that's OK? I think I can bear up under the strain.

The server seems to be overloaded, though. I think this just got very popular.

I too couldn't come up with 5 negative traits, and decided phooey (although I'm not quite sure I used that word in my head, I should have).

Why is "simple" considered a negative trait while "complex" is positive?

I'd reverse them if I were in charge of the world.

Vaclav Havel; George W. Bush.

Not sure why they were not all on the same screen... there were negatives available in the Johari section, but no positives in the other one. Why not just one big page of adjectives? Still, interesting!

Why would anyone fill in a Nohari window for anyone other than a family member at the insistance of a trusted therapist???

No one thinks you're calm or dignified. Does this worry you, as a self-reflective person?

Kathy, if it did I sure wouldn't say so, because people would run over to the nohari window and put in "needy."

Hmmm.

Come to think of it, no one in my offline life thinks I'm calm or dignified either.
