Toad in the Hole

Yeah I'm Old

We were walking past Union Square tonight and a young woman clad in orange drawstring pants, an iPod, and a joyous expression ran full-tilt past us, and my first thought was, "Bare feet on concrete? Ow!"

Was the pavement too hot?

Hah. In San Francisco?

No, it's just that she was running hard, full-tilt, at full stretch, hitting the pavement hard on each step, thwack thwack thwack. That can be hard on all those little footbones.

She sure seemed to be having a good time, though. And just btw, she didn't seem drunk or high, and didn't have that "oooh I'm epater-ing the bourgeoisie" or even "I'm getting away with something" expression, just looked... exultant.

hey - that's got to hurt. but the orange drawstring pants. now that is cause for concern :)

Hey,CC! Long time no see! How's things in the hot 'n' steamy?

I was about to say that the pants were the best part of her outfit, but comt to think of it they were the only part of her outfit. At least they weren't bright orange, and they were loose enough to be good for running in. Also they were highwaters, and this might be the only time I've seen anyone in highwaters that didn't look like a dork.

Then again, that may just be because they were so outshined by her, her, her running style, yeah, that's it.

Actually, that is it. Plus she was young enough and, while nicely endowed, so constructed as to enable her to run without beating herself to death. Hell, no wonder she looked so pleased.

Honestly, I found myself looking around for a camera crew, but it was just the usual crowd of locals and tourists.

Ah, I didn't catch that she was "half-streaking" before...

Ron, you work overtime at being clever, and whereas you often are, you sometimes tip into cutsey.

Unsolicited advice: Find a good story, simply tell it, and above all, stay out of the way of your story.

hey ron
life here is not to bad :) a shitload better than before, anyhow :) the rains are here, so there are beautiful storms rolling in every afternoon. i'm finally getting my tounge around enough dipthongs to hold a conversation (so long as we don't vere into the philosophical i'm understandable. i think. i might be wrong. hell. i'm sure i'm wrong. people are just so polite). it's all good. geography cure not necessary (yet)- but you know, quitting the job, the dickhead and all asociated things- made a big difference!
went a few weekends ago to a place you'd love - it's called Ben Tre (provence in the Mekong Delta about 2 hours drive from SaigonSaigon). It's the fucking garden of eden. if you could imagine a place where everything is alive - everything, the water, the land, the sky, the air.... you can take a little flat boat out for hours, watch the stars and the fireflies come out, cruise around all night if you like... there are these tiny little canals you cruise down, or open river.. your call. i'd always put my money on Phu Quoc as paradise.. but this might just take the cake. So you. so, so you.
take care, hoping california is treating you well, cc

CC, When it's all dry and dusty out, like now, a place like that soounds even more like paradise. One of these days, one of these days...
